教学目标

教学过程:
Step 1:Present a group of sentences in this unit and find linking verbs .
1)Both of these medicines have saved millions of people’s lives and have proved
beneficial to mankind since they were invented.
2) Within a short time, aspirin became the best-selling medicine in the world for pain
relief.
3) The new medicine was effective.
4) He noted that a dish in which he was trying to grow bacteria for an experiment looked
abnormal — it had blue mould in it.
Step 2.Definition: A linking verb is a word used to connect the subject of a sentence to
further information about its state. The most common linking verb is“be
(am/is/are/was/were/been)”. eg. The new medicine is effective.
Step 3. Different types of linking verbs:
1)“存在持续”类:表示存在或具有某种特征或状态的持续。这类系动词强调“存
在”“持续”。常见的有: be (是),seem (似乎是),appear (似乎、显得),prove (证明
是),remain (依然),keep (保持),stay (保持),continue (继续、仍旧),stand (处于
某状况或情形)等。例如:
1.The story proves true.
2. They appear in favor of the new drug.
3. Please keep quite in the library.
4. It's already ten in the morning. The store remains closed. What's the matter?
5. —Why don't you put the meat in the
fridge?
—It will stay fresh for several days.
2)五种感官类动词: look (看起来),feel (摸上去),smell (闻起来),taste (尝起来),
sound (听起来)等。例如:
Your idea sounds good.
Those oranges taste delicious.
The milk smells sour.
She looks much younger than she is.
3) “变化”类: 表示由一种情况或状态变化成另一种情况或状态。这类系动词强调
“变化”后的情况或状态。常见的有: become (变成), turn (变成), grow (变得), go
(变得)等。例如: Put the fish in the fridge, or it will go bad in hot weather.
Step 4.其它要点:
1)有些系动词通常不用于被动语态和进行时态中。如:feel,taste 等词。
2) a. 一般情况下,系动词主要跟形容词或分词作表语。 b.能跟名词作表语的系
动词常见的有:be, become, appear, seem, prove, remain 和 turn 等。注意:turn 后跟(表
示主语身份的)名词作表语时,不加冠词。c. 系动词也可跟不定式(to do / to be),常
见的有: appear, seem, remain, prove, look 等。
