The Surprise Attack on Pearl Harbor
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,
I am very glad that you have come today.
Today I am here to show you some illustrations of the Attack on Pearl Harbor, and
to tell you something about how it happened and what its results were.
We’re all gathered here to view some photos, which remind us of the attack carried
out in 1941 by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor, an important US military base in Hawaii,
during World War Ⅱ. The night before the attack, many Japanese ships and aircraft
carriers sailed to the Hawaiian Islands and were waiting there for a surprise attack. As a
result of the deadly attack, much of the US Pacific Fleet was destroyed. Therefore, the
former US President Franklin Roosevelt, made an address to the nation and declared the
war against Japan. A national memorial was built at Pearl Harbor to remember those
Americans who died in the attack in 1941.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was the most important event in World War Ⅱ.
America’s entry into World War Ⅱ has immeasurably changed the face of the world.
Thank you for your kind attention.
