Book1 Module 6 The Internet and Telecommunications Per iod 2 Reading and Vocabulary 课题 Book 1 Module 6 课型 Reading 教材分析( Analysis of Teaching Material ) Based on the topic of the Internet and Telecommunications, the passage focuses on the origin and of the Internet and the invention of the World Wide Web. The content is close to our real life and it’s quite informative, making students e njoy their learning. 学情分析( Analysis of the students ) The students are at different learning levels. Some of them are really bad at English, but luckily most of them are very active and enthusiastic about learnin g English. They desire to learn well and show good cooperations and teamwork whi le learning. Meanwhile, they have a good command of computer skills and take gre at interest in surfing the Internet to obtain information they need. 教学目标 1 The Main Task: The students will be helped to improve their reading ability through scannin g and skimming, and obtain more information about the development of the Interne t and the invention of the World Wide Web. 2 Language focus Knowledge Aims (知识目标) In this period, the students will learn and master the following a. Important word and phrases: access/accessible, contain, defence, create, invention, design, source of infornation, consist of, come up with, web browser, web traffic,work as,etc. b. Important sentence patterns: (1) It then became possible for universities to use the system as well. (2)Berners-Lee built his first computer while he was at university using an old television. (3)Berners-Lee made it possible for everyone to use the Internet, not just u niversities and the army. 3 Ability Aims (能力目标) a. Improve the students’ reading ability by using proper reading skills and strategies. b.Help students to express their supporting and opposing opinions freely. c. Develop the students’ writing ability by learning the Internet and using it properly in daily life. 4 Emotion Aims (情感目标) a. To teach the students to use the resources in a proper way and cultivate them to hold a positive attitude towards using the Internet. b. To raise the students’interests in the Internet and use it properly in d aily life. c. To inspire the students to appreciate the advanced science and technology in the world. 5 Teaching importance and difficulties(教学重点和难点) To make the students understand and grasp the vocabulary and knowledge relat ed to the Internet and telecommunications. 教具准备 The blackboard, the multi-media and a tape recorder Teaching Process(教学过程) Revision and lead-in Review some words about computers by showing some pictures, then ask stueden ts questions: 1 Do you like surfing on the Internet? 2 What can you do on the Internet? Show some pictures to help the students answer. In a nutshell, the Interner is very helpful in our daily life. But what is t he Internet? How did it start? Who invented it? 活动设计目的:导入部分利用多媒体帮助学生复习电脑部件,达到复习新词的目的并了解网络的用途。 激活学生的相关背景知识,并提高其阅读兴趣。通过问题引导学生思考导入新课,激起学生求知的欲望。 Pre-reading 1 Listen to the text carefully, then answer the questions in Activity One. 1) what is the Internet? 2) How did it start? 3) What is the Worls Wide Web? 4) Who invented it? 2 Read the passage quickly and choose the main idea. A. The passage Introduces the inventor of the World Wide Web. B. The passage tells us something about the Internet and the World Wide Web. C. The Internet is widely used all over the world. 活动设计目的:由于文章篇幅较长,生词偏多,学生在阅读中可能会感到费力,甚至有部分学生会产 生畏难情绪,因此必须采取先易后难的教学策略,既先听后读,以读带说。让学生带着问题听完录音后, 快速浏览本篇文章,并根据自己的理解回答文章中涉及的问题和大意。运用英语教学中“自上而下”的原则, 让学生从总体上去感知这篇文章,成功的进行了语言的输入。 While reading 1. Writing(语言输出和拓展提升) a. Discussion and presentation As is known to all, the Internet plays an important part in our daily life. We ca n do nearly everything on the Internet. But every coin has two sides. The Internet a lso has its advantages and disadvantages.Now I’d like you to discuss the two aspects o f the Internet in two groups. Group 1 ( talks about the advantages) Group 2 ( talks about the disadvantes) Advantages Disadvantages bring us convenience/efficie ncy search information shopping online study online watch live games or progra ms chat with families and fri ends bad for eyes tend to be isolated be addicted to playing com puter games have a bad effect on stud y cyber crimes rise sharply suggestions 活动设计目的:通过前面学习活动的推进,学生对因特网的了解已经差不多了,这时候把学生分为两 组,分别讨论上网的优缺点,以及自己的观点。要求用英语先写出上网的优缺点,适当给学生提供相关单 词及短语,要求学生组织成句子,讨论完成之后再检查句子的正误。讨论的话题贴近学生生活,使得他们 有话可说,这样不但会激起学生兴趣的火花,开拓学生们的思维,为后面的写作做铺垫。在小组逐个展示 过程中,不仅锻炼了学生口语表达能力,也增强了他们的自信心。 B.
