Many people believe that tea was first drunk nearly 5,000 years ago. It is said that a Chinese ruler called Shen Nong first discovered tea as a drink. One day Shen Nong was boiling drinking water over an open fire. Some leaves from a tea plant fell into the water and remained there for some time. It produced a nice smell so he tasted the brown water anyway. It was quite delicious. In this way, one of the world’s favorite drinks was invented. More than 4,000 years later, Lu Yu, “the saint of tea”, mentioned Shen Nong in his book Cha Jing. The book describes how tea plants were grown and used to make tea. It also discusses where the finest tea leaves were produced and what kinds of water were used. It is believed that tea was brought to Korea and Japan during the 6th and 7th centuries. In England, tea didn’t appear until around 1660, but less than 100 years later, it had become the national drink. The tea trade from China to Western countries took place in the 19th century. This helped to spread the popularity of tea and the tea plant to more places around the world. Even though many people now know about tea culture, the Chinese are without doubt the ones who best understand the nature of tea. 阅读短文,根据要求完成下面各小题。 Last month some parents visited a pizza restaurant in Florida with their children. On the door, they saw a sign “NO CHILDREN.” “Why can't we bring our children?” “What on earth does the owner want to do?” The parents were surprised and complained angrily. So why did the restaurant put up the sign on its door? Troy Taylor, the owner of the pizza restaurant, found that many parents couldn't control their children and many children couldn't have meals quietly, so they disturbed other customers. Some people said that this was unfair. Mr. Taylor explained his decision . He said that the restaurant was near a busy road, so there might be some danger if the parents didn’t take good care of their children. So he made up his mind to ban(禁止)children from his restaurant. Others supported his decision, they said they were bored of noisy children in restaurants and now they could finally have a place for adults only. ③ In fact, many other restaurants have also met the same problem. Some have done nothing and others have tried to ban children during certain times of the day. There’s one restaurant in Italy. It has been creative in dealing with the problem. Why not begin right away?” asked his brother. “Ten minutes! That’s nothing. Besides, I must have a run with Rover now,” replied Robert. After lunch, the two boys walked to school again. Frank took out his book and began to learn part of it while he walked along. “What a bookworm(书呆子)!” said Robert, laughing. He looked for birds’ nests in the trees all the way to school. “Come out to play soccer!” shouted a group of school friends when they finished school for the day. Robert ran away with the boys. ③ Frank promised to join them in 15 minutes, and took out his book again. After he finished, Frank played with the boys, and enjoyed the game. The two brothers were tired that evening, and went to bed early. But when they returned to school the next day, Frank knew his lesson perfectly. ④ However, Robert told the teacher that he did not have time to learn it. “How did you find time, Frank?” asked his teacher. “I had 10 minutes before lunch yesterday; 15 minutes when I walked back to school; and another 15 minutes before soccer. Then I looked over my lesson before I went to bed; and took 10 minutes before breakfast this morning to make it perfect.” “That makes an hour’s preparation,” replied his teacher. “Frank, you may run and play at break time. Robert, go to the back of the class. You will spend break time learning that lesson. And you will continue to do that until you have learnt this important lesson: You’ll never find time for anything.
