Teaching plan fo“The interesting world of plants”
(The first period)
Teaching objectives:
By the end of the lesson ,the students will be able to
1. get familiar with several plants and some special details
of them.
2. grasp some useful expressions in the passage
3. be aware of the fact that the plants are important to us ,
so we need to do our best to protect them.
Teaching procedures;
I.Pre-reading: Warming up
Prepare some pictures of various plants to arouse students’
interest in the topic of plants. Make sure the plants will be
familiar to the students or that grow near our school.
Ask the students to look at the pictures and encourage to tell
the class what they know about the plants.
II.While –reading
1.Skimming –read the passage quickly to find out “how many
plants are mentioned in the text ” and try to answer the
following questions .
2.Scanning –read the text and try to find the topic sentence
of each paragraph.
3.Reading for details- read the text and try to find more
details of the plants mentioned ,and fill in the blank.
4.Summary of the text-after the grasping of the main idea of
the passage, guide the students to summarize the passage and
fill in the blank to practise some grammar rules.
5.Listening – listen to a passage on mimosa, and get to know
another interesting plant.
III.Post –reading
1. Ask the students a question “Do you have any plants in your
home? How do you take care of them? encourage the students
to say something about their familiar plants. Meanwhile,
show them some flowers that I plant by myself and encourage
them to raise flowers to decorate their house.
2. Discussion
Are plants important to us? Why?
Plants are important for us, However, plants are sometimes
damaged by human beings, what can we do to protect plants?
