Pre-reading Ask students to give the names of the following plants (with the aid of pictures) Give the names of the plants To introduce some related words and expressions Ask some related questions Give answers to the questions To introduce the importance of the plants 2. While-reading Ask the students to skim: read the first sentence of each paragraph and answer the questions. Read and answer To get the general idea of the transcript Ask the students to scan: find the names of the plants which match the descriptions on the left in the table below. Read and match To find detailed information 1.Ask the students to read for detailed information: find the topic sentences and details 2.Ask the students to retell paragraph by paragraph with the help of key words 1.Read and fill in the blanks 2.Retell 1.To find topic sentences and supporting sentences 2.To learn to use the new words and phrases 3.
