1. broaden students' horizons and enable them to know more about colours.
2. improve students’ speaking ability by discussing color associations.
3. improve students' ability of skimming and listening.
Emotional objectives
Learn to appreciate colors and share the beauty of our colorful world.
Teaching focus: The whole lesson will focus on the topic "color".
Teaching difficulties: to get students to brainstorm the color associations and grasp
some color expressions.
Teaching Procedures:
I. Lead in:
1. Teacher elicits the topic through a question: what is brought into your mind when
you see different colors.
2. Ss are required to discuss different personalities according to one’s favorite colors.
1) Red-You are energetic and adventurous, looking for excitement.
2) Blue-You are calm and in control, and prefer a peaceful life.
3) Green-You are firm, dislike change and fear failure.
4) Yellow-You are open and free, ambitious and optimistic.
5) Purple-You are loyal, critical of yourself, pursue knowledge, perfection and inner
peace.
6) White- You are shy but regard yourself as pure and special, with a sense of
self-importance.
3. Teacher introduce some color expressions and Ss are required to grasp them.

II. Skimming
Ss are required to read the first sentence of each paragraph in the article and finish Ex
B on P32.
III. Scanning
Ss are required to scan the article and then answer Qs.

2) Which two colors remind people of peace and quiet?
3) What are the main “appetite” colors?
4) What color is often used by the environmental movement?
5) What does the color of the UN flag symbolize?
IV. Assignment
Read the text again and write an article about Color in our life in about 120 words.
