Pre-reading activities 1. Guessing game To ask students to guess the name of the given pictures To guess the name of a certain plant To lead out the topic “plants” 2. Free-talk To talk with students about their attitudes towards plants and their knowledge about plants To share attitudes towards plants and knowledge about plants To check students’ background knowledge about plants II. While-reading procedures 1. Skimming To ask students to read the first sentence of each paragraph and answer questions on P 35: To ask students to match the pictures with their English names To read the first sentence of each paragraph answer questions on P35: To match the pictures with their English names To find out the 4 plants mentioned in the text 2.
