- 1 - Date: Class: Teacher: Content: Oxford English S2B: Unit 2 Developing a story according to the given pictures Duration: 40 minutes Description: The content of the lesson is selected from the speaking part of the textbook, but is adapted to integrate the skills in picture-talking and story-writing. The whole lesson is designed on the theory of task-based approach. In the lesson, the students are supposed to improve speaking ability by fulfilling the tasks of developing different stories according to the given pictures. They will be aware of the tips on developing a story, and will be involved in the interesting classroom activities to practise their spoken English (actually also beneficial to their writing). They are also expected to develop their imagination and learn to cooperate with peers to complete a task or improve a job. Teaching Aims: Knowledge and skill-- To help the students know the tips on developing a story Ability development-- To develop the students’ ability of communication and cooperation Emotion and view of value--To find the humor in our life and share happiness Teaching aids: PPT,blackboard, handouts 高中英语: Teaching procedures:高中英语:Unit2 The many m Steps Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Purposes Pre-writing 1. Lead in the topic of developing a (funny) story. 1. To give their opinions on developing a story. 1. To arouse the topic of writing a story. While-writing 1. Present an example of poor work on developing a story. 2. Let the students improve the story through pair work and present the improved story. 3. Comment on the students’ performance and conclude the tips on developing a story. 1. Discuss the problems for poor work by studying a poor example. 2. Improve the story through pair work and present the improved story. 1. To encourage the students to find the solutions to the problems. 2. To help students make improvements on the story according to the tips. - 2 - 3. Correct the errors and remember the tips on improving the story. 3. To help the students have a deep understanding of how to develop a story. Post-writing 1. Divide the students into two groups to develop different stories according to the given pictures. 2. Let the students share their stories 1. Develop more stories according to the given pictures. 2. Present more stories according to the given pictures. 1. To apply what they have learnt about developing a story. 2. To improve the student’s ability to express themselves and learn from peers.
