本课课文选自《英语(牛津版)》高中一年级第二学期 Unit 3 More reading Learn to care for plants.这篇文章主要介绍了三种可用于装饰
的植物:茉莉花、玉兰花、金琥仙人球。
我校高一学生英语水平一般,大部分学生不敢用英语表达自己的想法。学生通过主阅读 The interesting world of plants 的学习,已经认
识了一些植物,对这个话题比较感兴趣,生活中有些学生家里也养殖了植物,学生有话可说。文本的茉莉、玉兰花、金琥等在生活中
比较常见,但是学生不熟悉英文名称及发音,因此,课堂活动中要注重引导学生开口朗读,并且积极参与活动。

1. get the features of the three plants by skimming and scanning.
2. introduce the plants with features of the plants.

1. Teacher shows a model( Yulan magnolia)
I am Miss Magnolia. I am beautiful. People love me for my elegance, my color and
my looks. I am very tall. More than 12 meters. My flowers are 12 centimeters wide.
They are snow white. I am like an elegant lady smiling to everyone. I have a lot of
clothes. In spring, I wear a white coat (blossoms). In summer, I wear a green dress
(green leaves). In autumn, I change a red or orange one (red or orange leaves). But in
winter, I am naked. I wear nothing. I am so cold. Please take good care of me. Keep me
warm and moist. Thank you!
2. Students choose one plant, the jasmine or the golden ball cactus, and discuss how to
introduce the plant.
3. Some students present themselves while others check whether they provide enough
information about the features.

Nicole: I have just moved to a new flat with a balcony facing the south. We can get a lot of
sunshine in the day. I want to grow some plants to decorate my balcony. But I am too busy
during weekdays, and I am a little bit forgetful.
Tom: I am a retired man. I have a big house, with a big garden. The garden is surrounded by
the fences. Every day I have nothing to do. I want to do something and make my garden more
beautiful.
