资料简介
1 报刊阅读,以读促写 教学设计 Do you trust self-driving cars 1. Editor’s note: Many companies are focusing on developing their own self-driving cars. And recently, China released new rules that will give self-driving cars more opportunities to be tested on public roads. Do you trust self-driving cars? Yes Gao Kaiyuan, 17: I believe self-driving cars are extremely reliable (可靠的). Firstly, they contain a variety of technology to sense their surroundings, which greatly increases their safety. Their advanced control systems mean they can find the best route (线路) automatically and safely, saving us time. Secondly, they’re an effective way to reduce traffic accidents and ease traffic jams. For instance, they can keep a certain distance from other cars, and never go over the speed limit. Li Mengjie, 17: I am in favor of self-driving cars. In the future, robots will replace human beings in more and more ways. This is an unavoidable trend (趋势) of the development of science and technology. In addition, self-driving cars will also save labor costs in certain industries as we won’t need drivers anymore. NO Zheng Bowei, 16: I hold the view that self-driving cars are not really good for us because when we create something to make our lives easier, we often forget to consider our personal security. For example, if the computer software that controls these vehicles were hacked (非法侵入), self-driving cars could be used to carry out illegal activities. Our safety and security should always come before convenience. Liang Heyuan, 19: I believe self-driving cars have many problems. The technology is still under development, so it needs to be tested many times until we are sure it is safe to use. At the same time, self-driving cars could lead to unemployment – taxi drivers and bus drivers could lose their jobs. And as the traffic conditions in China are so complex ( 复 杂 的 ), it could be difficult for self-driving cars to respond ( 反 应 ) 2 quickly in the case of an accident. Step 1: Pre-reading: Do you trust self-driving cars? Practice1. Write down the phrases or the structures according to the Chinese meaning. I (赞成.......)___________________________________________________________ I (不赞成......)_________________________________________________________ While-reading: Practice2. Writing task I believe/... self-driving cars is trustful/dangerous because _______________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ 3 _______________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________ Step 2: Further understanding Practice4. The reason why______________________________is that _____________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________(not only...., but also ..).Finally/... ________________________________________________,so we can't deny that ______________________________________________________ Step 3: Post reading—Overview of the Writing Will AI be bad for us? YES Wang Yutong: The invention of artificial intelligence (AI) is different from other man-made things because it has the ability to copy the way we think. It’s true that at the moment, AI cannot think by itself. But if we continue to develop this technology without being careful about what we are doing, one day it might be able to think for itself and want to get rid of human beings. Zhang Xiaohan: We should worry about the future of AI. Robots with AI have been used in many areas. In future it’s likely that AI will take up more and more of the working world because it doesn’t have the limits that humans have. Then many people would lose their jobs, losing an effective (有效的) way of building their self-esteem and giving their lives value. NO Li Yifan: Don’t forget the word “artificial” in AI’s name. Though it could be highly developed, AI is programmed by humans and would always be under the control of humans. We have many ways to ensure human beings’ safety. For example, we could put a self-destruction command (指令) in an AI program. 4 Zhang Kaiyue: Some scientists have exaggerated (夸大) the dangers that AI would bring to the human race. I don’t think AI would be a threat to mankind because it’s really just some computer codes (代码) and programs. Wisdom comes from human minds that are made up of complicated (复杂的) structures. No matter how advanced AI became, it would never be able to have its own wisdom or overtake (超过) human wisdom. Give your opinion on whether AI is bad for us. I______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________ Assignment: 1. Read the passage from Issue 709--‘Clean’ way to exercise 2. Write a short passage to express your attitude towards “plogging” 3. Be prepared to present your speech.
