acupuncture.
3. To arouse the students to love our motherland and the Chinese medical
science.

2. Try to make all the students take part in the class activity.

Teaching Procedure:
Step I Greeting and Revision (3 min)
1. Greet the whole class as usual.
2. Check the students’ homework. Ask a student to read the article about
flu. Correct mistakes if any.
Step II Lead-in (4 min)
Ask the following questions to arouse the students’ related information.
(show Pictures 2、3、4、5、6、7 and 8)
1. Have you ever seen a doctor? Can you say something about your
experience of receiving medical treatments? Are you afraid of
injection?
2. Do you know any other traditional Chinese treatments?

Step III Listening for special information (8 min)
Decide T or F: (show Pictures 9 and 10)
1. Chinese acupuncture has a very long history. (T)

pairs. Ask two students to come to the front to fill in the chart.(show

Step VI Description (2 min)
Ask the students to describe the current situation of the modern
Chinese acupuncture according to the passage. (show Pictures 13、14、
15 and 16)
Step VII Discussion (3 min)
Divide the students into groups of four to discuss the eight questions in
Part B. Others may give comments or raise questions. Ask them to report
their findings to the class.
Step VIII Debate (7 min)
Divide the students into groups of four and debate with each other, then
prepare their project and present it to the class. (show Picture 17)

1. Read the passage again and find the useful expressions in it.
2. Do the listening exercises in Parts A and B on Page 116 of Workbook,
and then complete Part C.
