第二节 读后续写(满分 25 分)
One possible version:
Paragraph 1
The next day, Lisa told the good news to Madam Dean. She told her about the
order. Madam Dean almost shouted when she learned about that. “What? 40 such
sweaters in two weeks? That’s impossible! Do you know how long it took me to make
the sweater for you? It took me one week,” said Madam Dean. Lisa was very sad to
hear that. But she didn’t want to lose such a great opportunity. It was really important
to her.
Paragraph 2
Lisa then remembered her father’s words. She decided to find another solution. 2
She thought that Madam Dean might not be the only one in Paris who knew how to knit
that kind of sweater. She asked Madam Dean if she knew anyone else who could help
her. Madam Dean then started to make some phone calls. Finally, she found 20 women
who agreed to help her. At last, all the sweaters were finished in two weeks. The
sweaters were all delivered to New York on time. Lisa was closer to her dream.

Text 1
W: Excuse me.
M: Yes?
W: I’m looking for the nearest post office. Can you help me?
M: Yes. Drive down Sesame Street and turn left when you see Moon Bridge to
Broadway. Go on driving until you get to Rose Square. You will see it easily there.
Text 2
W: So you don’t know the people in your pictures.
M: No, I don’t.
W: Do you let people know when you are taking pictures of them?
M: I try not to. You know any picture of a person who poses for the camera would look
dull and unnatural.
Text 3
M: I’m really tired. But I don’t want to miss the football match on TV.
W: If I were you, I wouldn’t do it. You’d better go to bed right now, for you have to
catch the early train tomorrow morning.
M: OK. You are right.
Text 4
W: Dear, let’s walk around the supermarket. I want to buy something for your parents.
M: Are you looking for something special?
W: Winter is just around the corner. I want to get some warm clothes for them.
M: That’s very kind of you to be so thoughtful.
Text 5
W: It’s very cool today, isn’t it?
M: Yeah. It rained last night.
W: It’s going to be sunny this weekend. Time to pack our bags for a trip.
M: Great! I’m tired of staying at home all day.
Text 6
W: Simon, do you like hunting? 3
M: Not really. But I know a lot of people like it because they think it is exciting.
W: Do you know what they usually hunt?
M: Well, deer mostly and sometimes rabbits and different birds.
W: I know little about hunting and I have been interested in it since I read an article
written by a hunter. It’s really fun.
M: A lot of people enjoy it, and many of them eat the animals after they hunt them. My
father told me that my grandfather was an excellent hunter.
W: Really? Then why don’t you like it?
M: Well, I think it’s cruel to kill a live animal. They are our friends and we should
protect them.
Text 7
M: Wow, look at the line! We’re lucky that we got here an hour earlier to get good
seats.
W: No joke. I learned my lesson the last time I went to an opening. I didn’t arrive early
enough and ended up with a terrible seat all the way in the front row!
M: Yeah! I hate sitting in the first row too.
W: By the way, thanks for getting this ticket for me. Do you want some popcorn and a
drink?
M: That would be great!
W: OK. What kind of drink do you want?
M: Let me see … I’ll take a large Coke. As for the popcorn, just a medium one will do.
Thanks a lot.
Text 8
M: The soft drink is four fifty-two. Here’s your change, and have a nice day.
W: Thank you. By the way, I’m looking for the art museum. Do you know how to get
there?
M: Let me see. The art museum is on the 7th Avenue. The best way to get there is to
go out of our parking lot and turn right. Follow that street two blocks, and get into
the left-hand turn driveway. At the lights for Mason Street, take a sharp left turn
and go up five blocks to the 7th. Turn left. The museum will be on your right-hand
side.
W: Thank you. Do you know if there is parking available at the museum?
M: Yes, there’s a parking garage right next door. And you’re lucky enough because
you don’t need to put coins into the parking meter today, because it’s Thursday
today. There is no charge there every Thursday.
W: Wow, wonderful!

M: Hello, Tom speaking.
W: Hi, Tom. This is Diana from the creative writing class.
M: Oh, hi, Diana. What’s up?
W: Well, I have a new project I thought you might be interested in. I’m setting up a
writer’s group, you know, a support group for people who are trying to get
published.
M: Well, how would it work?
W:We get together once a week. I’ve already arranged for a meeting room in the library.
We share what we are working on and offer each other some advice.
M: Sounds great. I could use some advice. I’m working on a short story that I’d like to
get published in the Campus Literature Review. You’ve done that, haven’t you? I
read a poem of yours in the last issue.
W: Yes, I was so excited to finally see my work in print. It was presented three times.
You just have to keep trying if they turn you down.
M: Well, I’m sure the group can help me, but I don’t know how much I can contribute.
I’m just starting out.
W: That’s OK. I know from your teacher’s comments that you will be a valuable
member. We will get someone experienced to help us, too.
M: Sounds great. You can definitely count me in.
Text 10
Good morning, everybody! Today I would like to focus mainly on how to improve
your English for practical purposes. In English, as in most languages, there are four
main aspects — speaking, listening, reading and writing. I believe the following
activities can help all four of these. Firstly, reading the newspaper has always been
noted to be able to help improve one’s English. However, I personally feel that reading
books is more useful. While newspaper reading can improve your English, I feel that it
may be too boring for secondary school students. There are books written for advanced
users, so I am of the opinion that books are better for students to improve their English.
The second activity is watching the news. I know I just said the news is boring, but I
think watching the news can be interesting to students. Another advantage of watching
the news is that you can learn how to use body language while speaking. I’ve also
noticed that there are some English news programs in Tokyo. This is the most beneficial
to learners of English. I hope my speech has been helpful to all of you. Thank you for
taking the time to listen. Are there any questions?
