What is Calgary famous for?
卡尔加里牛仔节(Calgary Stampede),是卡尔加里最著名的
节日,拥有“世界上最精彩的户外表演”的美誉,是真正的西
部盛情与狂欢。牛仔节在每年七月的第一个星期五举行,在长
达十天的节庆期间,不仅来自世界各地的顶级职业牛仔齐聚一
堂,参加50万加币大奖的竞技大赛。最特别的是,这段期间卡
尔加里市内所有的商店、旅馆、餐厅、街道全都布置成西部风
格,更推出各种与牛仔相关的商品、乡村音乐、餐饮,全体市
民也都戴起白色仔帽、穿上牛仔裤和时髦的马靴,一起欢度牛
仔节,每天早上九点到十一点,在各主要购物商场等数十个定
点,还免费提供上万份现做的煎饼早餐,邀请所有认识与不认
识的人一起享用。 卡尔加里牛仔节的表演节目在为期十天的
牛仔节嘉年华期间,有一百二十万人前来参观,身临其境可尽
情享受异域原野粗犷豪放的牛仔风情。节目包括职业牛仔竞技
表演,蜚声世界的马车大赛、以及令人叹为观止的晚间大看台
表演等等。
号称北美最大的卡尔加里牛仔节起源于上世纪初,
始于一个牛仔的梦想。在1912年时,一个经常旅行
美国各地从事西部牛仔表演、名叫Guy Weadick的
牛仔,一心梦想要举办一个牛仔竞技活动,发扬西
部拓荒时期的精神与西部牛仔文化,在他努力的奔
走之下,他的构想获得了当时担任牛仔竞技组织的
四大巨头资助,筹措了十万美元,于1912年9月首
次在卡尔加里创立了牛仔竞技活动,并且一举成功,
得到全卡尔加里市民的支持。自那以后,每年7月,
平时安静的卡尔加里便会陷入狂欢。牛仔节也越办
越大,活动项目与奖金也不断的增加,吸引世界各
地的好手前来角逐。
