Australia closed in 1978. Whales
are now an endangered species
and in need of conservation.
They are now protected by an
international ban on whaling.
However, some countries oppose
the ban. In groups, discuss the
reasons for and against banning
whaling.

What can we do to help
marine life like whales?
ØNever release balloons outside as they can travel hundreds
of miles and land in rivers, creeks(海湾), and oceans. Whales,
dolphins and turtles can be killed by ingesting balloons
mistaken for jellyfish.
For example:
ØNever dump (倾倒)anything in the street as it goes into the
storm drains (雨水沟) which travel straight to rivers, creeks,
and eventually the oceans without being cleaned.
ØParticipate in some certain community organizations such
as Save the Whales’ Petitions (请愿书)
