Early one morning, I opened the window to find that the sun was splashed everywhere. The sunshine warmed my face, making it comfortable. I started to play my beloved violin. My mind was quite focused, my spirit firm, and my mood entirely free of worry. When I was playing the climax to the piece, a sound from next door got my attention. I was fascinated and had a special idea: “How wonderful if we played together!” I began to play pieces by Beethoven with my neighbor, one piece after another. We played together so well that I was curious about how she or he looked. However, I couldn't figure out why the violinist next door never responded when I knocked on the door. I was extremely disappointed.A year later, I took part in a violin competition. At the event, I made a new friend, whose name was Rita. This girl, who was my age, was deaf and dumb, but she had played the violin for eight years! I saw Rita carefully walk onto the stage. She put the violin between her neck and shoulder and began to perform. “The melody is so familiar!” I said to myself. It was unbelievable that a girl who was deaf and dumb could play such marvelous music. The audience warmly applauded her. What was even harder to believe was that the girl was my neighbor. It was fate that we should meet and become friends. Rita's story made me realize that life is not always sunny or poetic; sometimes there are violent storms and setbacks. However, no matter what you suffer, believe in yourself and strive. You can succeed. 21.Why was there no response every time the author knocked on his neighbor's door? A.His neighbor had moved away. B.His neighbor meant to decline him. C.His neighbor was hearingchallenged. D.His neighbor was too excited to respond. 22.What is the message conveyed in the last paragraph? D.Smile to life, and you'll get a smile back. 23.The author wrote this text mainly to________. A.introduce his neighbor Rita B.value his friendship with Rita C.speak highly of Rita's violin skills D.show the inspiration he got from Rita B Moutai Thanks the Hit Movie Wolf Warrior Ⅱ for Free Advertising Chinese box office hit Wolf Warrior Ⅱ has received a thankyou letter from the president of China Kweichow Moutai (Group) Distillery Co., Ltd, the country's most famous brand of liquor, because of the scenes where the hero drank Moutai liquor in the movie. The movie, which premiered ( 首 映 ) on July 27,2017, tells the story of a former Chinese People's Liberation Army soldier protecting Chinese citizens and local factory workers in an African war zone. C Joseph Goldberger was a doctor for the United States Public Health Service and he was an advocate for scientific and social recognition of the links between poverty and disease. In 1914, Goldberger was asked by US Surgeon General Rupert Blue to study a skin disease that was killing thousands of people in the South. The disease was pellagra(糙皮病). Goldberger traveled to the state of Mississippi where many people suffered from pellagra. He studied the victims and their families. Most of the people lived a hard life. The doctor came to believe that the disease didn't pass on from one to another, but was instead related to food. He received permission from the state governor to test this idea at a prison. Prisoners were offered pardons if they took part. One group of prisoners received their usual foods, mostly corn products. A second group ate meat, fresh vegetables and drank milk. Members of the first group developed pellagra. The second group did not. But some medical researchers refused to accept Goldberger's idea. For the South, pellagra was more than simply a medical problem. There were other things, including Southern pride. So Goldberger had himself injected(注射) with blood from a person with pellagra. He also took liquid from the nose and throat of a pellagra patient and put them into his own nose and throat. He even swallowed pills that contained skin from pellagra patients. An assistant also took part in the experiments. So did Goldberger's wife. None of them got sick. Joseph Goldberger died of cancer in 1929. He was fiftyfive years old. Several years later, researchers discovered the exact cause of pellagra: a lack of vitamin B3 known as niacin. 28.Who were easy targets of pellagra according to Goldberger? A.People in America. B.People put into prison. C.People having a poor diet. D.People touching pellagra patients. 29.What did Goldberger want to prove by the experiments mentioned in Paragraph 4? A.Pellagra wasn't so terrible. B.Pellagra didn't spread. C.Pellagra could be cured. D.Pellagra wasn't a medical problem. 30.Which words can be used to describe Goldberger? A.Devoted and determined.
