Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:‎ ‎1. listen, write and talk about their favourite sports with their classmates;‎ ‎2. listen, read and talk about their after-school activities with their partners.‎ II. Teaching contents ‎1. New words and phrases: table tennis, volleyball, after school, else, fun ‎2. New structures: what else, play volleyball with sb, reading is fun, make sb feel great.‎ ‎ ‎ III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty Give a report about their classmates’ favourite sports.‎ Make up a dialogue to talk about the after-school activities with their partners.‎ IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead-in ‎1. Speak out:What sports are they?‎ T: Today we’ll learn Integrated skills of Unit 2. Look at the pictures. Can you speak out names of the sports?‎ ‎2. Free talk ‎ T: It’s time for you to talk about sports with your partner.‎ A: What is your favourite sport? ‎ B: …‎ A: Do you often play it after school?‎ B: …‎ ‎【设计意图】通过看图说出运动名字的导入,让学生进行有关最喜欢运动的对话,帮助他们慢慢融入到课堂中,既复习了之前的重要句型,也为接下来的教学做了一定的铺垫。‎ Step 2 Presentation ‎1. Read and guess What are their favourite sports?‎ ‎2. Sum up the listening skills Tip One: Try to guess the answers before listening.‎ Tip Two: Pay attention to the key words.‎ Tip Three: Write the first letter of the word if time is limited. ‎ ‎ eg: sàswimming vàvolleyball ‎ ‎3. Listen and choose T: Mr Wu is asking his students about their favourite sports. Listen to the conversation and help him to write the correct letters in the boxes.‎ ‎4. Ask and answer T: Please talk about the students favourite sports in pairs. One asks, and the 3‎ ‎ other answers.‎ A: What sport does … like?‎ B: She/He likes …‎ ‎5. Listen and complete ‎ T: Listen again and help Mr Wu to complete his notes.‎ Many of my students like sports. Amy likes _________ and she is good at it. Simon likes playing _______ very much. Millie likes playing _________. Sandy is tall, and he often plays _________. Kitty often plays _____. Daniel does not like sports very much, but he sometimes plays __________.‎ ‎【设计意图】通过听,让学生找出所给人物最喜欢的运动,然后让学生两人一组完成对话,巩固听力内容,既操练了句型,也为接下来的补全文章这一教学任务做好了准备。‎ Step 3 Practice ‎1. Free talk ‎ T: What do you like doing after school? ‎ ‎2. Listen and answer ‎ T: Sandy and Millie are talking about what they often do after school. Listen and find out the ‎ answers to this question: What do Sandy and Millie like doing after school? ‎ ‎3. Listen and judge ‎ T: Listen to the dialogue again and decide the following statements are true or false.‎ ‎ Music makes Sandy feel great.‎ ‎ Sandy also likes playing volleyball.‎ ‎ Millie likes listening to music.‎ ‎ Millie plays volleyball with friends.‎ ‎ Both Millie and Sandy read a lot of interesting books. ‎ ‎【设计意图】通过完成不同教学任务,帮助学生熟悉对话内容,同时也为之后的编对话任务带来一定的文本输入。‎ Step 4 Consolidation ‎1. Make a dialogue ‎ T: Work in pairs to talk about your after-school activities.‎ A: Hi, what do you do after school?‎ B: I often…‎ A: What else do you like to do?‎ B: Sometimes I …. What about you?‎ A: I often…‎ B: …is fun. ‎ ‎2. Make a survey ‎ T: Work in a group of 4 to ask your group members something about their hobbies. Write a note ‎ to report to the whole class. You have to work together and choose one to give the report.‎ 3‎ ‎【设计意图】让学生由课本的对话,过渡至谈论自己,发挥语言的语用功能,让他们就彼此放学后的活动这一话题进行对话练习。最后让学生以之前的听力材料作为输入内容,4人一个小组,进行组内业余爱好的调查,形成报告,汇报给全班,让学生在真实的语言环境中进行口语操练。‎ V. Homework ‎1. Show your report to your parents. ‎ ‎2. Recite the dialogue in the textbook.‎ 3‎
