Why not?And as she only keeps losing weight instead of gaining,it is good for her to find foods that appeal to her appetite. It is becoming harder to find ways to communicate over the phone, but this was this was at least a very good way to do so.And it was nice,as well,to remind us of pleasant memories of our past.‎ ‎24.What has mainly worried the author lately?‎ A.Her father is suffering from illness. Productivity gets a promotion, and profits follow suit.Absence also drops when employers take steps to carry out an effective safety program.‎ Investing in a good safety program brings with it other benefits too. When employees feel safe in the workplace and absence rates are kept down, they can focus on serving the company’s customers properly. Many companies offer produces or services that are similar to those that other companies carry or provide.Customers will decide which companies they want to deal with based on which one they feel provides the best customer service.Increased absence means longer wait times and customers are quite prepared to move on to another company they feel will be able to help them in a more timely manner if they are not getting the level of attention that they deserve.‎ Everyone in the workplace has a duty and a responsibility to do whatever they can to keep the working environment safe.Managers should deal with employee concerns about safely issues in an appropriate manner.‎ ‎32.What bad effect does an incident have according to the text?‎ A.Workers may refuse to work again. B.The quality of products may decline.‎ C.Workers may be hard to concentrate. D.The company may close down.‎ ‎33.What do we know about the safe workplace form Paragraph 4?‎ A.It can inspire workers’ creativity. B.It can bring workers a higher pay.‎ C.It can put an end to worker’ absence. D.It can bring the employer more money.‎ ‎34.On what condition will the customers move on to another company according to the text?‎ A.If they can’t get a safer product.‎ B.If they have to wait for a long time to get deserved attention.‎ C.If they feel the company can’t provide a safer workplace for them.‎ D.If they find the company provides the some products as others offer.‎ ‎35.Which of the following can be the best title of the text?‎ A.How Employees Can Protect Themselves B.Companies Are Ensuring Employees’ Safety C.Why Safety Is Important in the Workplace D.How to Create a Safer Workplace 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)‎ 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。‎ A lot of people put off learning how to swim because they’re afraid of drowning.‎ ‎_36_Follow these guidelines whenever you’re swimming, and the odds of drowning will decrease dramatically:‎ Don’t swim alone._37_An area with a lifeguard is usually a best place to swim in groups.‎ ‎_38_If you’re learning to swim in an ocean or river, you’ll need to be more aware of the motion of the water. If you must learn to swim this way,try to make sure you’re with someone who knows what he or she is doing, and be sure to read the steps about getting out of a rushing river.‎ Stay within a depth you can handle. When you’re first learning how to swim, don’t take the risk of diving into water that’s too deep for you to stand in._39_‎ Avoid swimming during severe weather conditions.Swimming in a light rain shower should be fine._40_This rule is to be followed regardless of how well you can swim.‎ A.Don’t start out swimming in moving water.‎ B.You needn’t care too much about the heavy rain, either.‎ C.That way,if something goes wrong, you can simply stand up and breathe.‎ D.Always go swimming with several other persons who are strong swimmers.‎ E.Do stay in the clean and rapid water to fully enjoy the excitement when swimming.‎ F.However,if you see or hear a storm approaching, get out of the water immediately.‎ G.When drownings occur, most of them could have been prevented by simple safely measures.‎ 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)‎ 第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每题1.5分,满分30分)‎ 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。‎ I was travelling between two cities in India overnight by bus.I was_41_to this place.I took an electric tricycle(三轮车),telling the driver to_42_me at a bus stop from where I could get a direct bus to my final destination.I had very little_43_so I let him know that he could drop me at the_44_point.‎ The driver tried communicating with me on the way, trying to judge my_45_.He was also trying to_46_an ATM for me.He wanted to drop me at home,so he could_47_more money. However, finally he realized I was_48_out of cash and he’d better drop me at the_49_stop.‎ This destination was not too far away but realizing that I was new,he had_50_me extra ‎ money, which I had_51_, not being aware.‎ At this bus stop, while dropping me off, this driver was feeling awkward about the_52_I might face by taking a local bus.I had two bags of luggage with me which I would need to_53_on the bus and then from a bus stop to home.‎ The driver didn’t drop me off and_54_.He went around finding another electric tricycle for me and_55_I take a full tricycle for Rs.60 if I could afford it,or else_56_the tricycle with other passengers, paying Rs.30.I chose the latter.
