Unit 4 My day Reading‎ (I)‎ I. Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:‎ ‎1. identify specific information about school life and activities;‎ ‎2. practise reading skills by learning Millie’s article;‎ ‎3. learn the new words.‎ II. Teaching contents ‎1. New words and phrases: first, each, other, practise, wish, would.‎ ‎2. New structure: After class, we often chat with each other or play in the playground.‎ ‎ We practise after school on Wednesday afternoon.‎ We always have a good time at school.‎ ‎ ‎ III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty Read the passage in different ways.‎ Describe Millie’s day and try to talk about the students’ school life.‎ IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead-in ‎1. Ask some questions about the students’ daily life T: Good morning boys and girls! Now we are middle school students.‎ Do you like your school?‎ What do you think of your school life?‎ What do you often do at school?‎ ‎2. Learn the new words and phrases in the passage ‎ Have lessons; do morning exercises; play in the playground; read books; practicing playing volleyball; do after-school activities; chat with each other and have a good time ‎【设计意图】由学生的日常学校生活引入本节课的所需要学习的课文,让学生对于话题在脑海中有一定的联想,既是课堂气氛的预热,同时也调动了学生学习的积极性。并且这些问题和课文也有一定的关联性。‎ Step 2 Presentation ‎1. Watch the video and ask two questions about Millie’s school life T: We all like our school and we have a colourful school life. How about Millie? Let’s watch a video about Millie’s school life and try to answer the following questions.‎ Which is Millie’s favorite subject?‎ What does Millie like doing?‎ ‎2. Read and find Ask the students to read the passage again and try to find the things Millie does 3‎ ‎ at different times.‎ T: You all do a good job!
