Unit 6 At a PE lesson I.                   Aims and demands     1. The language item in this unit is how to follow the orders given in the unit in the PE lesson. The students are required to learn the imperative sentences of “Put…on… Touch…with…” and their answers. 2.The teacher should try to design a situation for the students to understand the function and meaning of the sentences. 3. It’s better for the students to take part in the activities and use the sentence patterns practically in daily life. 4.Outdoor activities can help the students raise the ability of using the language. II.                      Time arrangement:  This unit can be divided into five or six periods.      1. Unit 6 (B);    2. Unit 6 (C,E);   3. Unit 6 (D,F,H);   4. Unit 6 (A,G);   5. revision;   6. We do morning exercises. B. Revision and presentation 1.Review parts of a body T: Do you know the names of parts of a body?  What’s this in English? (Using body languages)  Hair, a head , an eye, an ear ,a nose ,a mouth , a tooth , back stomach 2.Presentation T: What’s this in English? It’s  a/an arm ,hand ,leg ,neck , shoulder ,finger , knee ,toe ,foot. (Put picture cards on the Bb) 3.Practise a.       Magic mouth Look at the Teacher’s mouth and say English words.  b.      Listen and touch Touch your……(T—Ss, S—Ss, S—S) c.       Act out in class. 4.Sing a song “Head ,shoulders ,knees and toes” 5.Describe a doll/ puppet/ toy animal. a.  T: Look at this rabbit .It has two long ears, two red eyes , a short tail and short legs. It’s very lovely. b. Look at this puppet ,It has a round face ,two small eyes, a big mouth ,two long legs and a short neck. c.       Ss work in groups of four. d.      Ss describe the puppets /dolls / toy animals they bring with them. C.  Look , read and learn (SB,P46.B) 1.Look at the wall picture .Say the names of parts of a body. 2.Listen to the tape recordings, repeat after the tape. 3.Practice reading. 4.Look for friends.     Ask some students to put some words on the right parts of a body on the wall picture on the Bb. D.                Consolidation 1. Listen and do    Quick action . T: Stand up , everybody .Let’s play a game. T: Let`s  listen and show .Head ,nose ,hand ,finger … 2 .Listen and touch T:  Touch yours toes with your fingers three times. Ss:  All right. ( Follow the orders) T: Touch your head with your hand twice. Touch your arms with your fingers four times. Touch your hands with your knees five times. Touch your neck with your right hand five times, Then with your left hand five times. Fill in the blanks with the words missing . 5.Ss give the keys to the sentences 6. Ss read the whole sentences loudly .     D. Listen and draw (SB.p50 F) 1. Games.    a. It has four legs, two big ears and a long nose. What is it? Guess. (an elephant)     b. It has two long ears ,two red eyes ,a short tail, white far, short legs .It can run very fast. What is it? Guess?(a rabbit) 2. Explain the game rule      One student thinks of a monster, and draws it down. Then he/she describes the monster to some students. Other students try to draw a monster according to the boy’s description. After that all the other students compare their drawing to the first student . The one whose drawing is the best match will win the game. 3. Teacher makes up some strange animals, let the students listen and draw .To see who draws the fastest and best. e.g. Listen and draw   It has a round face, a rectangle body, two long legs, two short arms. It has two oval eyes, a triangle nose, a heart mouth. It has two star fingers, two oval feet. What is it? 4. Ss try to make up materials for listening and drawing. then play games in the group. 5.Teacher gathers all the drawings from the students. Put them on the showing board or make up a picture book for display. E. Homework. 1.Write Part. D in SB P.48 in the exercise books. 2.Try to describe the drawings to the class. 3.Read Parts B,C,D,E,F, twice. Listen to the tape for twenty minutes. 3.      Review Part A in SB P44. Let’s do some exercise. Now listen carefully. Jump up and down. Do this …times. 2.      To know the pronunciation of the letters combinations in words: ai,ay. III. The focal and difficult points    Master the three skilled sentence patterns skillfully. Hand to back….     (Ss work in pairs. Both of them touch the other’s part of the body with his/or her hand.) 2.      Listen and do (2) One gives orders, the others follow. e.g.  a. Stand up everybody.        b. Put your hands on your head and turn left and right. Do this ten times. c. Put your feet together. Jump up and down five times.        d. Bend your knees. Move your legs to the left, then move them to the right.        e. Lift up your left leg and touch it with your right hand. Lift up your right leg and touch it with your left hand. Do this ten times.        f. Touch your toes with your fingers three times.        g. Turn left and right seven times. h. Sit down everybody. C. Read and say (SB. P.44.A) 1.      Put the wall pictures on the blackboard. Look at the pictures carefully. Talk about the pictures with the students. 2.      Listen to the tape recordings carefully. Try to find out what Mr Ma orders the students to do. 3.      Questions and answers. a.       Where are the students? b.      What are they doing? c.       What is Mr Ma doing? d.      Are the students try to follow the orders? e.       What does Mr Ma ask the students to do first? f.        Do the students jump up and down? g.       How many times do the students jump up and down? h.       Does Mr Ma ask the students to listen carefully? i.         What does Mr Ma order the students to do next? j.        Do the students put their hands on their heads and turn left and right? k.      Do the children lie on their backs? l.         What does Mr Ma ask the students to do then? m.     What does Mr Ma ask the students to do at last? n.       Do the students feel tired? 4.      Books open Ss look, listen and repeat after the recordings. 5.      Explain some language points.      In the sports hall, have a PE lesson, give orders, stand in a line, do some exercise, jump up and down, listen carefully, turn left, turn right, ten times, lie on one’s back, bend one’s knees, left leg, stand up, feel tired 6.      Role dialogues (T---Ss, Ss---T, Ss---Ss, S---Ss  ) 7.      Practice dialogues in group of six. One of them acts as a PE teacher and gives orders. The others follow the orders. 8.      Act out the dialogues. D. Consolidation   1. T: Give orders.         Ss: Follow the orders. Model   Stand up!         Stand in a line.         Put your feet together.         Jump up and down five times.         Put your hands on your head and turn left and right.         Do this eight times.         Put your knees together. Bend your knees…. 2.Students work in groups of four. One of them gives orders, the others follow them. 3.Act out the dialogues before class. E. Listen and repeat. (SB.P.51.G) 1.      Ss read the four words with the same vowel sound. 2.      Ask some Ss to say the sound out. Let the Ss know the letters combination “ai, ay” in words are pronounced / ei /. 3.      Look at the picture carefully in order to know the meaning of it. Then read out the sentence several times. Pay attention to the pause of the meaning groups. F. Homework 1.      Read Part A fluently after class. 2.      Try to give orders to the classmates around. 3.      Learn the four skilled words and sentence patterns by heart. Finish off workbook exercises.
