What was the problem?
河水真是脏极了，
The river was really dirty.
甚至河底积满了废弃物，
Even the bottom of the river was full of rubbish.
渔夫钓不到任何鱼。
There were no more fish for fishermen to catch.
是什么引起了这样的问题？
What caused the problem?
人们一直往河里扔垃圾，
People are throwing litter into the river.
工厂正把废品往河里堆。
Factories are putting rubbish into the river.
应该如何解决这个问题？
How should the problem be solved?
我们应该给政府写信下令关闭工厂，
We should write to the government and ask them to close down the factories.
每个人应该伸出援助之手清洁河水。
Everyone should help to clean up the river.
河水很脏，
The river was dirty.
甚至河底积满废弃物。
Even the bottom of the river was full of rubbish.
但过去是那么的清洁。
But it used to be so clean!
是，可是人们还在往河里扔垃圾。
Yes, but people are throwing litter into the river.
这个镇上的每个人应该尽一份力量来清洁河水。
Everyone in this town should play a part in cleaning it up!
空气污染严重是因为最近公路上有来往不断的车辆。
The air is badly polluted because there are more cars on the road these days.
烧煤的工厂还冒着浓黑的烟污染空气。
Factories that burn coal also pollute the air with a lot of black smoke.
也有过多的废弃东西和工业废品。
There is also too much rubbish and waste.
人们每天在扔掉不需要的东西。
People are throwing away things every day.
人们还在像公园似的公共场所乱扔垃圾。
People are also littering in public places like parks.
这正是把美丽场所往糟糕处在转变。
This is turning beautiful places into ugly ones.
附近处的空气已经严重污染，
The air has become really polluted around here.
我正担忧着。
I’m getting very worried.

To cut down air pollution,
我们应该乘坐公交车或者地铁，而不是开车。

骑自行车还有别的好处，
There are other advantages of bike riding.
它对健康有益而且不花一文钱。
It’s good for health and it doesn’t cost anything!

嗯，我认为生活小事如自带袋子去购物有助于减少垃圾污染，
Mmm, I think simple things like bringing a bag to go shopping can help.
我一年前就开始这样做了。
I started doing that a year ago.

还有我买外卖食品的时候，
Also when I buy takeaway food,
从来不用木筷子或者塑料叉子，
I never take wooden chopsticks or plastic forks,
用家里的餐具。
I use the ones at home.
还要记得把垃圾扔进垃圾桶，
And remember to throw rubbish in the bins,
保持公共场所整洁和美丽，人人有责。
and keep public places clean and beautiful for everyone.
