Unit Two Are they yours?
I.Teaching analysis
It is an introduction about Lost and Found office in London.
Losing is a general problem in many places. Many people may
face such problems. What should we do if we lose something?
And what does the Lost and Found office look like in
London ?This text can help students enrich knowledge and
broaden their horizons. Most students may be interested in this
topic but the Grammar is a little difficult for them.

Student should know the use of nominal possessive pronoun.

Student should learn how to solve problems when they
lose something .Firstly,we should be careful with our
things.Then we should learn how to describe our lost things
and ask for help.
4.Teaching difficulties
Student may be confused about the use of possessive
case of nouns because there are some differences between
Chinese and English expressions.
III.Teaching steps
Step1:Warm up
1.Show a video that a student lost a school bag . Let us
help her.Then students begin to discuss it .
2.Show some pictures of Lost and Found offices in
different places .Lead students to know them.
( A SOS video will raise students’ interests. Then we
talked about Lost and Found office which is related to our
topic today.)
Step2:Read in brief
Lead students to match each paragraph and topics.
Par1 People look for many things in lost and found office.
Par2 Some strange things people leave.
Par3 A brief introduction of lost and found office in London.
(Using this way can help students master the main idea of
text quickly.)
Step3:Read in detail
Exercise1:read Pa1 and answer
a. When do people often lose things?
b. Why are these lost and found offices at airports and
stations?
Exercise2:read Pa2 and check
1.There are a few people coming here every day.

Exercise3:Read Pa3 and fill

Step4:Discussion
Show some lost things in the Lost and Found office of
London.Students may be surprised with so many lost
umbrellas,electronics,keys … Then teacher lead students to
discuss: why do people lose so many things? What can we do
to avoid it ?
Students have 4 minutes to prepare it. It is a free talk,so
everyone who wants to share with us can have a talk. At
last ,the teacher makes a summary
( Through the discussion, students may know they should
be careful with things and master some useful ways to find
their lost things.)
Step5:Presentation
Team-work:if you lose something,you tell you friend and
then you go to the Lost and Found office together.During it ,you
will have dialogues.Please make dialogues and present them
in front of class.
Try to use “Is this …?/ Are these …? ”
Students have 5 minutes to prepare it. And invite three
groups to do the presentations.
( The presentation can help students master what we
have learnt today. What’s more,students can be more
confident to show their themselves through presenting before
classmates.)
Step6:Homework
1.Imitate the Lost and Found note ,write a note.
2.Tell your parents how to find your lost things in Lost and
Found.

V:Introspection:
It was students’ first time to meet nominal possessive
pronoun so some students made mistakes. I think next lesson
we should do some relative exercises to help them.
For the discussion and presentation,some students was a
little shy to show themselves. So I should try to encourage
them to be confident. I should give students more chances to
present them.
