Yangmi got mild sunburn on her face when she
took pictures on the beach.
Because the mild sunburn belongs to the first
degree burns, I took the following steps to treat
her. First of all, I cooled burn area with cool but
not icy water and then placed a cool, clean and
wet cloth on the burn area until the pain was not
so bad. Secondly, I dried the burn area gently.
Last but not least, I helped her sit up.
It seemed that my treatment was useful, and I
was proud of my knowledge of first aid for burns.
From the blisters, red and rough, we know it
belongs to the second degree burns.
We need five steps to finish the first aid. First,
I cool burns immediately with cool but not icy
water. Second, I keep cloths cool by putting
them back in a basin of cold water, squeezing
them out and placing them on the burned area
over and over again for about an hour until the
pain is not so bad. Third, I dry the burned area
gently. Forth, I cover the burned area with a
dry, clean bandage. Last, is is vital to send
the victim to the doctor at once.
