Participation in these courses includes at least 12 hours of work on the research project each week as well as weekly meetings with other researchers to develop professional skills.(大四期间,优等生要学习两门研究经验 课程。 故选 A 项。 由文章最后一段“However, only honors students are guided and helped through the process of writing an essay.(然而,只有优秀学生在写作过程中得到指导和帮助)”可知,只有优秀学生才能得到论文 指导,由此得知这是他们的特权。 由文章第一段“The honors program is for students who have enjoyed their experience in research with a guide teacher and are looking for a highlight experience during their final year. The program has specific requirements for our majors described below.(这个荣誉项目是为那些在指导老师的指导下享受过研究经验的, 希望在最后一年能有一次精彩的研究经历的学生设立的。 B A short cooking video posted by a netizen on Tiktok has recently become a popular hit on the site. Bearing the tag “Chinese food”, the video not only showed off the chief’s superb skills in making Chinese dishes, but it also got netizens abroad wanting to get a taste of China’s unique food culture. Although the video was nothing master-level, just a rather standard homemade fried potato dish, it received more than 200,000 likes after only three days of posting. In addition to praising the chef, commenters wondered why such a simple Chinese dish could look like a fancy cuisine that had been made through tons of effort. “Even the most basic Chinese dish needs to have three elements: color, smell and taste. For example, color not only requires a chef to have sharp eyes, but also valuable experience,” said Wang, an experienced Chinese chef in Guangzhou. Chinese cooking is not the only type of content covered by the tag. Other popular videos under the tag include “odd food” challenges, traditional Chinese dishes and Chinese snack tasting, the latter of which has become particularly popular among young omnivore vloggers (video bloggers) living in a world of continually expanding cultural globalization. “I have been a fan of Chinese food ever since my Chinese friend cooked me di san xian at university. I was surprised by the dish’s taste and its look, which was very different from my home food, but felt it was very familiar to me because I noticed we share similar cooking skills,” said Bianca, an Italian Asian food fan. “I started my channel by recording my roommate tasting my cooking. These videos got likes and comments gradually. Seeing some people commenting in German or English and saying ‘I want to try it’, I felt these videos can narrow the gap between the two cultures,” said Mr. Bear, a vlogger on Bilibili who promotes Chinese cooking. 24. What does the underlined word “omnivore” in Paragraph 3 refer to? A. People eating meat. B. People eating vegetables. C. People eating diverse food. D. People eating Chinese food. 25. What does Bianca think of Chinese food? A. Common and dear. B. Special and familiar. C. Weird and delicious. D. Similar and disconnected. 26. What does Mr. Bear mean in the last paragraph? A. The majority of his fans tasted the food he cooked. B. His roommate encouraged him to cook Chinese food. C. He is an expert determined to become a Chinese chef. D. His videos make a difference to cultural communication. 27. What can we learn from the passage? A. Chinese culture has aroused people’s interest overseas. B. The video is more master-level than a standard homemade. C. Basic Chinese dish has three elements: color, smell and taste. D. Chinese cooking has become popular among young vloggers. C 25. B 26. D 27. 分析划线词所在句子“Other popular videos under the tag include “odd food” challenges, traditional Chinese dishes and Chinese snack tasting, the latter of which has become particularly popular among young omnivore vloggers (video bloggers) living in a world of continually expanding cultural globalization.” 根据第四段的“ “I have been a fan of Chinese food ever since my Chinese friend cooked me di san xian at university. I was surprised by the dish’s taste and its look, which was very different from my home food, but felt it was very familiar to me because I noticed we share similar cooking skills,” said Bianca, an Italian Asian food fan.” 根据最后一段的““I started my channel by recording my roommate tasting my cooking. These videos got likes and comments gradually. Seeing some people commenting in German or English and saying ‘I want to try it’, I felt these videos can narrow the gap between the two cultures,” said Mr. Bear”可知,Mr. 根据第一段的“A short cooking video posted by a netizen on Tiktok has recently become a popular hit on the site. Bearing the tag “Chinese food”, the video not only showed off the chief’s superb skills in making Chinese dishes, but it also got netizens abroad wanting to get a taste of China’s unique food culture.” 根据第三段的“Chinese cooking is not the only type of content covered by the tag. Other popular videos under the tag include “odd food” challenges, traditional Chinese dishes and Chinese snack tasting, the latter of which has become particularly popular among young omnivore vloggers (video bloggers) living in a world of continually expanding cultural globalization.” D。 C Since 1998, when NASA kicked off the biggest search for near-Earth asteroids (小行星), scientists have detected more than 25,000 of them. 2020 turned out to be a record year for discoveries. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting many of the surveys, astronomers recorded 2,958 previously unknown near-Earth asteroids over the year. A large number came from the Catalina Sky Survey, which uses three telescopes in Arizona to hunt for threatening space rocks. Operations closed briefly last spring because of the pandemic. A wildfire in June caused a longer closure, yet the Catalina survey still discovered 1,548 near-Earth objects. These included a rare ‘mini-moon’ named 2020 CD3, a tiny asteroid less than 3 metres in diameter (直径) that had been temporarily captured by Earth’s gravity. The mini-moon broke away from Earth’s pull last April. Other discoveries last year, 1,152 came from the Pan-STARRS survey telescopes in Hawaii. The finds included an object named 2020 SO, which turned out to be not an asteroid, but a leftover rocket booster that had been circling around in space since it helped to launch a NASA mission to the Moon in 1966. Some of the asteroids discovered last year came close to Earth. At least 107 of them passed the planet at a distance less than that of the Moon. Last year’s narrow escapes included the tiny asteroid 2020 QG, which skimmed just 2,950 kilometres above the Indian Ocean in August. That made it the closest known approach, a record broken just three months later by another small object, 2020 VT4. That one passed less than 400 kilometres from the planet, and wasn’t spotted until 15 hours after it had zipped by. Had it hit, it would probably have broken apart in Earth’s atmosphere. All of these discoveries are making astronomers more conscious of the ball objects of the Solar System, where plenty of asteroids spin around in the space near Earth. 28. How many near-Earth asteroids might have flown past Earth in 2020? A. More than 2,958. B. 1,152. C. More than 25,000. D. 1,548. 29. What is 2020 SO in the fourth paragraph? A. It’s an asteroid. B. It’s space junk. C. It’s a mini-moon. D. It’s a NASA mission. 30. What may the discoveries of asteroids bring about? A. Launching a new rocket. B. Setting up a new space station. C. Destroying the near-Earth asteroids. D. Raising concern about the space. 31. What is the passage mainly about? A. The discovery was suspended due to the wildfire in June. B. The scientists of NASA began the biggest search for asteroids. C. The discoveries of the near-Earth asteroids hit a record high. D. The astronomers renamed 2,958 newly-found near-Earth asteroids. A 29. B 30. D 31. 根 据 第 一 段 最 后 一 句 “Despite the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting many of the surveys, astronomers recorded 2,958 previously unknown near-Earth asteroids over the year.”(尽管 COVID-19 大流行中 断了许多调查,但是天文学家在这一年中记录了 2958 颗以前未知的近地小行星。) 故选 A 项。 根据第四段第二句“The finds included an object named 2020 SO, which turned out to be not an asteroid, but a leftover rocket booster that had been circling around in space since it helped to launch a NASA mission to the Moon in 1966.”(这些发现中包括一个被命名为 2020 SO 的物体,它后来被证明不是一颗小行 星,而是一枚残存的火箭助推器,自从它在 1966 年帮助美国宇航局完成登月任务以后就一直在太空中盘旋。) 根据最后一段“All of these discoveries are making astronomers more conscious of the ball objects of the Solar System, where plenty of asteroids spin around in the space near Earth. 根据文章的主要内容,尤其第一段最后两句“2020 turned out to be a record year for discoveries. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting many of the surveys, astronomers recorded 2,958 previously unknown near-Earth asteroids over the year.”(2020 年是新发现最多的一年。 D When I was younger, I thought science would make good things for everybody. It was obviously useful; it was good. But then during the war I worked on the atomic bomb. This result of science was obviously very serious — it represented the destruction of people and put our future at risk. I had to ask myself, “Is some evil involved in science?” I thought long and hard about this question, and I will try to answer it in this talk. The first way in which science is of value is familiar to everyone: scientific knowledge is an enabling power to do either good or bad — but it does not carry instructions on how to apply it. Such power has obvious value — even though the power may be denied by what one does with it. Another value of science is the intellectual enjoyment it can provide us with. When we look at any question deeply enough, we feel the excitement mystery coming into us again and again. With more knowledge comes a deeper, more wonderful mystery, inspiring one to look deeper still. Never concerned that the answer may let us down, with pleasure and confidence we turn over each new stone to find unimagined strangeness, just like opening a box of chocolate. I would now like to turn to a third value that science has. The scientist has a lot of experience with ignorance and doubt and uncertainty, and this experience is of great importance. When a scientist doesn’t know the answer to a problem, he is ignorant. When he has an idea as to what the result is, he is uncertain. And when he is pretty sure of what the result is going to be, he is still in some doubt. Our freedom to doubt was born out of deep and strong struggle against authority in the early days of science. In order to progress, we must not forget the importance of this struggle; we must recognize our ignorance and leave room for doubt. Permit us to question — to doubt — to not be sure. 32. What is the purpose of the first paragraph? A. To blame science. B. To introduce the topic. C. To doubt the value of science. D. To emphasize the serious situation. 33. What can we infer from the passage? A. The author made an atomic bomb accidentally. B. Scientists are short of knowledge and certainty. C. Science is valueless if falling into the wrong hands. D. Science generates wonderful questions and mysteries. 34. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about? A. Scientists are scared to question the authority. B. Struggle is not necessary in the science research. C. Challenging the authority always exists in science. D. Sureness is an important factor to scientists’ success. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. The Value of Science. B. The Uncertainty of Science. C. The Power of Science. D. The Destruction of Science. B 33. D 34. C 35. 根据第一段““Is some evil involved in science?” I thought long and hard about this question, and I will try to answer it in this talk.(我不得不问自己:“科学中有邪恶吗?” 根据第三段“Another value of science is the intellectual enjoyment it can provide us with. When we look at any question deeply enough, we feel the excitement mystery coming into us again and again.(科学的另一 个价值是它能给我们带来智力上的享受。 最后一段“Our freedom to doubt was born out of deep and strong struggle against authority in the early days of science…(我们怀疑的自由源于科学早期与权威的深刻而有力的斗争。……)” C 项“Challenging the authority always exists in science.(挑战权威在科学中总是存在的。)” 文章第一段引出主题,第二、三、四段“The first way in which science is of value is familiar to everyone:…Another value of science is the intellectual enjoyment it can provide us with…I would now like to turn to a third value that science has…” A 项“The Value of Science.(科学的价值)”总结了文章 的主旨,适合作为文章的标题。故选 A 项。 It is commonly known that when people have disease or feel ill, they will have pills or go to see a doctor in the hospital. They are accustomed to seeing a human doctor. However, have you tried seeing a doctor that is not a human being? Many hospitals employ therapy dogs to comfort and inspire patients. _____36_____ Peyo is a 15-year-old horse who used to compete professionally with his trainer Hassen Bouchakour. Now, he’s comforting patients and family members alike. ___37___ The staff in the French hospital always call him “Doctor”. His trainer Hassen Bouchakour says that even at competitions, Peyo seemed to seek out contact specifically with those struggling physically or mentally. After a few years of research, vets believe Peyo’s brain functions in a unique sympathy-rich way. In the hospital, Peyo goes from door to door in the care center. He has been highly effective for reducing patients’ stress and relieving anxiety for their family members as well. According to doctors, they knew how beneficial Peyo’s presence was by observation. ___38___ Peyo has stayed with many patients right until the end of their lives. One patient, Daniel, was a former athlete. _____39_____ When he passed away this year, his family requested that the horse accompany his coffin to the funeral. Animals are born with power to comfort us. _____40_____ Perhaps this uplifting story of animal companionship will encourage more medical facilities to look into the healing benefits of animals. 【36 题详解】 根据上文“Many hospitals employ therapy dogs to comfort and inspire patients. (许多医院使用治疗犬来安慰和 鼓舞病人)”和下文“Peyo is a 15-year-old horse who used to compete professionally with his trainer Hassen Bouchakour. Now, he’s comforting patients and family members alike. F 项“However, in a French hospital, a different animal wanders in the halls. 【37 题详解】 根据下文“The staff in the French hospital always call him ‘Doctor ’. (法国医院的工作人员总是叫他‘医 生’)”和“Peyo seemed to seek out contact specifically with those struggling physically or mentally. (贝约似乎在发现病人和伤者方面很有天赋)”表达了相 似意义,且句中 detecting the sick or injured 与下文 seek out contact specifically with those struggling physically or mentally 相照应。故选 E 项。 【38 题详解】 根据上文“According to doctors, they knew how beneficial Peyo’s presence was by observation. G 项“They noticed patients interacting with him more required fewer strong drugs. 【39 题详解】 根据下文“When he passed away this year, his family requested that the horse accompany his coffin to the funeral. D 项“He gradually developed a very close connection with Peyo. 【40 题详解】 上文“Animals are born with power to comfort us. (动物生来就有安慰我们的能力)”讲动物具有安慰人类的 能力,A 项“Even during the most difficult times, they may help. 故选 A 项。 I am very happy to have had a few close friends to rely on when I’ve struggled with low mood and anxiety during my lifetime. Before us stretched the unending sand dunes (沙丘) that marked the beginning of the Sahara. Our vehicle set off, quietly running over the sand and small stones. It wasn’t long before we were surrounded by enormous sand dunes, towering above us on all sides. The wind was blowing grains of sand from the tops of the dunes, the sun was beating down hard and bright, and the sky was a deep shade of blue that I had never seen before. The wild beauty of the desert was about to reveal itself. There was not a plant to be seen. The desert appeared completely empty, which was calming and threatening at the same time. Eventually, as the last rays of sunlight were falling on the sand, we arrived at our desert camp. Stars were already shining brightly in the darkening sky and it was getting cold with the approach of the night. I grabbed my bag and headed towards the warm campfire. I was starving and rushed to put a steak on the barbecue. We enjoyed two days in the camp with camel riding and campfire parties before we set off for Kenya. A few days after our departure from the camp, we were very near to our rest camp in the Amboseli National Park. Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, rose up over the plains before us. Tall grasses and trees dotted the plains, which were alive with the African wildlife. Giraffes, with their long necks, were pulling leaves from the highest branches. In the distance, elephants were eating grass, ears flapping lazily as they moved slowly over the plains. The rest camp was in sight. Several huts made from brick settle across a large pool of water. The walls reflected the afternoon sun. My father, against my mother’s advice, decided to drive through the pool of water that stretched across the dirt road. Then, our car was truly stuck in the mud. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ We got out of the car. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________ 【答案】Then, our car was truly stuck in the mud. We tried hard to push the car out of the mud, but in vain. We needed two boards long enough to help the wheels move. Luckily, we were not far away from the camp. We called the manager of the camp for help. After a few moments, two local men drove over with necessary equipment and pushed us free. Thankfully, with the local men guiding, we drove on to the parking lot next to our hut. We got out of the car. We were amazed to find many monkeys jumping up and down in the trees. After carrying our suitcases and boxes of food into the hut, I returned to the car and fetched more possessions. It was then that I noticed a small grey monkey sitting on a tree a few metres away and eating a banana. “So cute,” I thought to myself, until I realized it was my banana that he was eating!
