Craig Kielburger is from _________ and he started Free the Children. Free the Children has built over 700 school rooms in many countries. Now they are trying to _____ a school in Kenya. Kangkang and his classmates want to _____ a food festival and ______ money to give to Free the Children. What will they cook for the food festival? Present the sentences in Grammar and let Ss to read and fill in the blanks with the correct words. 2. Guide Ss to generalize and review object clauses guided by “that”. What is object clauses guided by “that”? 【设计意图】引导学生复习、总结所学语法。 3. Present and let Ss read and fill in the blanks in Functions with the correct words. And then let Ss read the sentences one by one. 【设计意图】复习、总结本单元的功能性句型,提高学生的语言储备。 Step 3 Practice Present four situations and guide Ss to choose one of them and then work in pairs to make conversations with the object clauses and the functions they have learned in this topic. At last, ask some pairs to show their conversations. Situation 1: You are making a telephone call to invite one of your friends to your birthday party. Situation 2: You are talking about holding an English evening. Situation3: You are chatting online with one of your friends about how to raise money for a poor girl. Situation 4: You are talking about something about Craig and Free the Children. 【设计意图】创设情境,帮助学生更好地理解并语用功能句。 Task 2 Step 1 Pre-reading Show some posters and let Ss discuss what kinds of posters they have seen in their life. T: There are many kinds of posters in our life, such as Concert Poster, English Festival Poster, Campus Culture and Arts Festival Poster and soon on. Have you seen any other posters in your life? Step 2 While-reading 1. Present two questions in 1a and let Ss read to get to know what information they should find. And then guide Ss to read the poster in 1a and find the answers to the questions. Check the answers. 【设计意图】训练学生带着问题捕捉文章有效信息的阅读能力。 2. Guide Ss to look at the poster again and discuss what they can see in it. And then discuss the content and the form of a poster. 【设计意图】培养学生仔细观察图片的习惯和意识,学习海报的内容和格式。 Step 3 Post-reading 1. Present and guide Ss to guess and learn the key points together. Present the form of an invitation and guide Ss to review how to write an invitation. Do you know how to write an invitation? 【设计意图 】回顾上节课所学的有关邀请函的书写格式,为接下来的写作任务奠定基础。 2. Present the information about a parents’ meeting in 2 and ask Ss some questions about it to make Ss get to know what they will write. (1) Who will be invited to attend this meeting? (2) Where will the meeting be held? (3) When will the meeting be held? (4) Why does your teacher hold this meeting? 【设计意图】熟悉写作背景是成功完成写作任务的前提条件。 Step 2 While-writing Let Ss write their invitations according to the information in 2. Help your teacher write an invitation. 【设计意图】训练学生的写作能力,提高他们的写作水平。 Step 3 Post-writing 1. Ask Ss to exchange the invitations and check them in pairs. At last ask some Ss to read their own invitations in class. 【设计意图】训练学生相互检查对错的能力,锻炼他们敢于张口说英语的能力。 2. Present and let Ss read three proverbs in 3 and understand what they mean. And then let Ss learn them by heart in class. 【设计意图】学习英语谚语,讨论并理解其中所包含的人生哲理,培养学生的英语学习兴趣。 Work on Project Guide Ss to read the steps in Project and get to know how to prepare for a party. And then let Ss discuss in groups and make a list about the invitation. At last let Ss write the invitation of each group. Preparing for a Party 1. Discuss who you will invite and what food you will prepare. 2. Make phone calls to the people you will invite. You may use the following questions. May I invite you to…?/Would you like to…? 3.
