1. enjoyable adj. 有乐趣的,使人快乐的,令人愉快的
(后缀-able 构成形容词,表示“可能的”)
enjoy v. 欣赏;享受 enjoyably adv. 愉快地

We all had an enjoyable evening.
◆ People in Thailand enjoy eating spicy food.(enjoy doing sth.)
They enjoyed themselves during the summer holiday.(enjoy oneself=have a good time)
◆ 后缀-able 构成形容词:change→changeable(多变的); comfort→comfortable(舒适
的);
rely→reliable(可以依靠的); accept→acceptable(可接受
的)
2. ideal adj. 理想的,完美的 ideal n. 理想
◆ an ideal job
My ideal flat is the one with three bedrooms, two living rooms and two bath rooms.
◆ I am looking for a house in the country but I haven’t found my ideal yet.
We must make efforts to translate(把...转变成)our ideal into reality.
3. conduct v. 组织,安排
conductor n. 领导者,经理,售票员,列车长
◆ My uncle conducted his business very successfully.
He should learn how to conduct a meeting.
◆ He showed his ticket to the conductor and got on the bus.
The bus conductor collected money from the passengers.
4. modern adj. 现代化的 (反义词:ancient 古老的)
近义词:up-to-date 最新的,现代化的; 反义词:out-of-date 落后的,过时的;
◆ a modern laboratory She loves modern music.
In the afternoon they went to an exhibition of modern art.
5. experiment n. 实验,试验 v. 做实验,做试验
◆ Some people learn by experiment and others learn by experience.
The teacher gave each of us a piece of paper before doing the experiment.

◆ 易混淆单词:experience n. 经历;经验 v. 经历(某事)
She is considered to lack(缺乏)experience.

6. organize v. 组织,筹备
organization n. 组织,机构
◆ The conference was organized very well.
Jane organized the party. She asked people to come and bought the food and the drinks.
◆ WTO(世界贸易组织):World Trade Organization
They have set up a student organization.
7. impossible adj. 不可能的 (反义词:possible 可能的)
impossibly adv. 不可能的 (反义词:possibly 可能的)
(前缀 im-表示否定,构成反义词)
◆ an impossible dream
It is impossible for us to finish so much work in a day.
◆ patient --- impatient(没有耐心的) polite --- impolite(不礼貌的)
8. necessary adj. 必须的,必要的 (反义词:unnecessary 不需要的,不必要的)
(前缀 un-表示否定,构成反义词)
◆ Sleeping is necessary to health.
All those clothes are unnecessary on such a hot day.
◆ interesting --- uninteresting(无趣的) comfortable --- uncomfortable(不舒服的)
9. put up 张贴,置于...明显处
◆ They put up a poster high on the wall.
put up 其他含义:
(1)建造;搭起
◆ They are putting up several new buildings in that block.
Several tents have been put up to accommodate them.
(2)为…提供食宿
◆ We can put you up for a night or two.
We shall be happy to put you up when you come to town next month.
(3)提高
◆ Universities have just put up their fees.
The workers asked their boss to put up their salaries.
(4)把…向上放:
◆ Put your hand up the cupboard and see if you can feel anything.
If you know the answer, put your hands up.
10. clean up 打扫干净

(1)有些动词后常跟反身代词:amuse, blame, dry, cut, enjoy, hurt, introduce, help

(2)“及物动词 + 宾语 + 介词”:dress oneself up, help oneself to sth.
I couldn’t dress myself up when I was three years old.
◆ 作表语和同位语
I am not myself today. 我今天不舒服。
The thing itself is not important.
◆ 在不强调的情况下,but, expect, for 等介词后宾语用反身代词或人称代词宾格均可
No one but myself / me is hurt.
◆ 第二人称作宾语,用反身代词
You should be proud of yourself.
◆ 注意:反身代词不能做主语,但可作主语同位语,放在主语后或句末。
错:Myself went to the cinema . 对:I went to the cinema myself.
2. I would like to have less homework.
would like to do sth. = want to do sth. / would like + sth.
would like 具体用法:
◆ would like 后接名词或代词,表示具体“要”某样东西。
I would like a cup of coffee.
He would like a large bowl of noodles.
◆ would like 后接动词不定式(to do 形式),表示意愿、喜爱,有礼貌地提出邀请、请求
或建议。
I would like to help you.
She would like to eat swim.
◆ 词组:would like sb. to do sth. 想要某人做某事 = want sb. to do sth.
I’d like you to meet them.
I’d like him to do my homework.
◆ Would you like...? 表示向对方提出客气的、有礼貌的请求、邀请、希望或询问等。
Would you like an apple?你想要个苹果吗?
肯定回答常用 Yes, please. / Yes, I’d like (love) to. / Certainly. / Yes, thank you.等;
否定回答常用 No, thanks. / No, thank you.等。
◆ 拓展:当主语是第一人称时,would 可换成 should,like 也可换成 love。 I should love
the coat.
总结:would like 中的 would 是情态动词,依靠它我们可以做句型转换;
把 would like 作为一个整体看,它的用法与 want 相同。
3. It would be possible to have more books in our library.
It would be impossible to have a swimming pool in our library.
该句子结构与之前学过的“It is + adj. + to do”所表达的含义接近,但有所区别。
◆ It is nice to eat ice cream in summer.
It would be nice to have a swimming pool in our school.
第一句:夏天吃冰激凌很不错,表达的是经常发生的动作,是广泛爱好。
第二句:学校目前没有游泳池,如果有,会很不错。表达的内容与现状相反,有假
设成分。
