Step 1
Guessing game
(1) Who is he? Yaoming, Liuxiang. Who are they? Zhenjie, Suntiantian.
(2) What are they good at? basketball/ running/tennis
Step 2
(1) Do you know other sports?
badminton, table tennis, football, volleyball, skating, skiing…
(2) Play a game “match” to see which group does the best and fastest.
pictures and names of the sports(basketball, football, baseball, volleyball, golf, table tennis,
tennis, badminton, swimming, boxing, skating, running, skiing, skating, roller skating, shooting,
chess, …)
(3) Which of them is a team sport?
(4) What sport do you love? Do you do well in it?
I love basketball. / I love playing basketball. I am good at it.
(5) Ask and answer in a chain
eg: What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is …
I am good at …. It is easy. What about you?
…

Make a survey
How many students in our class like playing basketball/football/volleyball…?
Step 4
Ask one student who said he loved basketball:
Do you often play basketball?
When do you often play basketball?
Where do you often play basketball?
What do you need/wear when you play basketball?
Who do you usually play basketball with, your families or your friends?
Who is your favorite basketball player?
What about football/ tennis/ swimming/badminton?
Step 5

Make up sentences using these phrases and “when”

Doing sports is good for us. So we should often do sports.
