Unit4 I have a new friend
Teaching Aims
1.By using courseware, cards and playing games, students can listen ,
read and say the five words: young, old, beautiful, thin, clever.
2.Through watching video, making sentences, asking and answering
practice, students can understand and use the sentences “Is she tall？”
“Yes, she is.”
3.Through listening，reading , role play and making dialogues , students
can listen , read and act out the dialogues , talk about their friends, and
get to know how to describe characteristics of others and encourage
students to make more friends.

Step 1 . Warming-up Exercises
1. Greetings.
2. Review
a) Say the words as quick as possible.
b) Show a photo of me, introduce myself to the students. Do you
want to be my friend?
c) Sing a song together. (Boy and girl)
d) Today we’ll learn Unit4 I have a new friend.
(通过师生互动、问候、歌曲，活跃课堂教学的氛围，拉近师生
的距离，并且使学生尽快的进入英语的语境氛围。)
Step 2 . Presentation and Practice
1. Introduce myself to the students.
1）I’m your new English teacher, my name is Cynthia, you can call
me Cindy. Do you want to be my friend?
(通过介绍自己为下一步介绍人物做好铺垫。)
2. Introduce Helen to the students.
1) Do you know her?
2) She is Xiaohui’s new friend, Helen.
3) She is from the UK.
4) She is tall and beautiful.
5) Is she tall?
(通过学生熟悉的人物，引入本课单词 beautiful, 及句子 Is she
tall?)
3. New words.
1)Show a photo of the mother, introduce the mother to the
students.
My mother is beautiful.
Show the students some cards to understand the meaning of
beautiful.(a beautiful flower, a beautiful skirt…)
Is she beautiful?
2) Show a photo of the father, introduce the father to the
students.
My father is thin.
I’m not thin. The small head father is thin.(Show the small head
father’s picture to the students.)
Is he thin?
Show some pictures to practice the new words and the
sentences( Guessing game.) .
3) Show a photo of the sister, introduce the sister to the students.
My sister is clever.
Show the picture of the Pleasure Goat to the students, he is
clever.
Practice the chant with the new words.
(通过卡片直观地感受单词的含义，在每个单词讲授完后带入句型
练习，加深巩固。在讲授单词过程中带入 chant，为后面做铺垫。)
4. Pair work.
1) Choose a student, and talk about his/her friend.
2) Students talk about their friends with their partners.
(老师先与学生练习做示范，然后让同学之间练习对话，逐步
熟悉句子和单词的使用。)
5. Guessing game.
Show 4 pictures of different people, let the students guess who is my
friend through asking me some questions.
(通过猜谜游戏练习句型及单词，使学生在游戏中学习巩固。)
6. New words.
1) My grandfather is 80 years old. He is old. Is he old?
2) My brother is 10 years old. He is young. Is he old? Is he young?
7. Practice.
1) Show a family photo.
2) Two students come to the front, choose some words to make a
simple dialog.
3) Let’s chant.
(请同学到前面做对话，锻炼学生的表现力，也增加老师和学
生的互动。通过 chant 加深对本课单词的印象。)
8. Listen and say.
1) Xiaohui is talking with her classmates, let’s listen to the radio
to see what they are talking about.

Show some pictures about friendship, recommend the students to
