about films and film events.

1.After discussion, the students are able to talk about their favourite directors, actors
and films.
2.By talking about the films and film events, the students’ spoken English can be

Step1 Greeting and lead-in
Play a short video “Da Vinci Code”. Then ask the following questions.
Have you seen the movie? Are you interested it? Why?
What is your favorite film? What is it about?
Who is your favorite director? Why?
Who is your favorite film star? Can you name one of his or her films? Why do you like
him or her?
Step2 Brainstorming
What kind of information might be included on a ticket?
What is a good film?
(an attractive or a moving plot, a meaningful theme, applied advanced technology, a
famous director, popular actors or actress with good skills, magnificent scenes)
If it’s a real good film, will it be awarded? If so, when and where will they receive its
prize?
(Sure. They will receive its prize in some film festivals.)
How much do you know about foreign film festivals?
(Academy Awards, Golden Globes, European Film Academy, Venice International
Film Festival
Shanghai International Film Festival.)

Ticket 1:
What kind of information can you get from the first picture?
(one ticket for one adult only, showing black-and-white films from the 1930s, full day
entry)
What other information do you want to know about the event?
(the starting date and closing date of the festival, the starting time and closing time
everyday, the price of the ticket, the city where this festival is held.)

What impressed you the most while looking at this ticket?
What do you think may be the story of the film? What does’hiding dragon’ mean?
Why do you think there is a single eye printed in the ticket?
