Review some words and expressions regarding the story writing.
II. Procedures
Step 1
Answer the questions:
Why was Mr. Potts unpopular?
Because the impression that he regarded his colleagues as inferiors made him unpopular.
Why did his co-workers decide to play a joke on him?
Because it might make him feel more humble. That means to teach him a lesson.
What do you think of Mr. Potts?
Was he generous? Was he kind? Was he humble? Did he feel self-important?
Step 2
Show the first paragraph to the students
One day, Mr. Potts’s colleagues decided to play a joke on him that might make him feel more humble.
Because the impression that Mr. Potts regarded his colleagues as inferiors made him unpopular.
Question:
Do you think this is a good beginning? Is it too long? And how can we cut it short?
