情态动词 can 和 could 的用法(见课本 P82 页)
can 本身表示能力或可能性,用于指现在或将来,其后接动词原形,否定形式
为 cannot / can’t.
(1)表能力 e.g. He can read the book.(肯定式)
He cannot/ can’t read the book.(否定式)
(2)表示可能性 e.g. He can be a driver.(肯定式)
He cannot/ can’t be a driver.(否定式)
(3)表示许可 e.g. You can use my pen.(肯定式)
You cannot/ can’t use my pen.(否定式)
could 为 can 的过去式,其后接动词原形,否定形式为 couldn’t.
(1) 表示过去的能力 e.g. He could swim last year.
(2) 表示可能性 e.g. You could be right,but I don’t think you are.
(3) 表示许可 e.g. You could smoke in the room yesterday.
情态动词 can 和 could 的一般疑问句及其肯定和否定回答(见课本 P83 页)
1.Can he use your ruler? Yes,he can / No he can’t.
2.Could you play football last year? Yes,I could / No,I couldn’t.
说明:表示许可,委婉地提出请求,给出建议.此时 could 与 can 没有时态
上的差别,它并不表示过去,而是表示一种更委婉的语气.
e.g. Could I help you? (比 Can I help you?委婉)
Could I use your umbrella?
We couldn’t play football because Simon forgot to bring a football
forget to do sth 意思是“忘记去做某事”,强调此事还没有做.forget doing sth
意思是“忘记做过了某事”或者“忘记曾经做过某事”,强调做过的事情.
请选择:Don’t forget -------------the window when you leave.
