A writer needs to be really good to win the Nobel Prize in literature (诺贝尔文学奖). But for

Bob Dylan, the 75-year-old American singer, won the 2016 Nobel Prize in literature on Oct.

people’s wishes. The Times They Are A-Changin’ is one of Dylan’s most famous protest songs.
However, not everyone thinks he is the right person to win this prize. Some people believe a
literature should not go to a singer. But BBC’s Colin Paterson says Dylan should be remembered
as a writer, not a singer, because he “made the lyrics more important than the music”.
“We’re really giving it to Bob Dylan as a great poet,” said Sara Danius, one of the people

poetry (诗), just like many people read or listen to poetry today that was written thousands of

We live in a fast-paced (快节奏的), technology-packed world where we spend most of our
time indoors playing computer games or using social media (社交媒体). But do you remember
when you spent most of your time outside, running, playing, and laughing with your friends?
Leaving your tech behind may seem difficult, but if you lose yourself in nature, you’ll
probably forget all about it. Scientist Albert Einstein once said, “look deep into nature, and then
you will understand everything better.”
In the US, June is Great Outdoors Month. It encourages more kids to go outside to have
active fun once again. Former US President Barack Obama wrote in a document declaring (宣告)
the day in 2012, “nature offers each of us the chance to get active, know more about the natural
environment, and improve our relationships with family and friends.”
The US Union Creek Resort website noted, “we all know how fast life can be, so it’s never
too soon or too late to create happy memories that we will cherish (珍惜) and share forever.”
Besides making us feel happy, science supports the idea that outdoor activities can reduce
stress. “Fresh air and sunlight have the largest advantages,” wrote Susanne Preston, a mental
health guide at South University, US. “With more time in natural sunlight, incidents of seasonal
affective disorder (季节性情绪失调) are getting fewer and the vitamin D in people’s skin helps to
lighten their moods (心情).”
What could be a better way to lower daily stress than to
enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors?
51. According to the passage, if a person is under heavy
pressure, he had better _______.
8
A. use social media and play computer games.

C. create Great Outdoors Month.
52. When we go outside to have fun, we may get the following EXCEPT (除了) _______.
A. Better relationship with family and friends.
B. Knowing about the natural environment.
C. Better grades and skills.
53. In Paragraph 5, Susanne Preston tells us that _______.
A. there are scientific reasons why outdoor activities benefit us.
B. we should cherish the chance to take part in outdoor activities.
C. we can control our moods while taking part in outdoor activities.
54. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A. We can better understand things in our world after looking deep into nature.
B. If we spend more hours exploring the nature, it’s easier for us to be more active.
C. The Vitamin E in people’s skin helps to lighten their moods.
55. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. Leaving your tech behind may seem difficult.
B. It’s nice to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors.
C. There is only one way to deal with daily stress.

China’s Yangtze River is the world’s third longest river. It is home to more than 400 kinds of
fishes. And the Chinese paddlefish(长江白鲟) was once common in the Yangtze River. Because

Yangtze River was seriously polluted by nearby people. As a result, the population of the fish
became smaller and smaller.

The stone house, named Church Cottage, dates back to(追溯到) 1852 and is about 125 miles
west of London. It was once J.K. Rowling’s home. The famous writer got the idea of Harry
Potter’s story from it. People all over the world got to know the house after her first Harry Potter
book came out.
Rowling lived in Church Cottage before she went to university at the age of 19. Then her
father continued living there and didn’t leave it until he sold it to Mercer in 1995. Before leaving
there, Rowling wrote a message on her bedroom wall. The new owner has kept the message till
now.
“It is an interesting house,” said Mercer. “The stone windows look like those of Hogwarts —
the magic school in Harry Potter. The trapdoor(地板门) in the dining room leads to a small cellar(
地窖). It is quite scary, just like the rooms in her books. “More interestingly, Mercer often meets
Harry Potter fans around the house.” For years, every time a book or a film came out, there were
always some people asking to come in and see the house,” Mercer said. “ I’m lucky to live here, in
my favorite story.”
But according to a report, Rowling recently bought her childhood home from Mercer and is
painting it. People try to find out what Rowling will do with the 170-year-old house. Some people

will provide a vacation home for families in need. Which guess is more truthful? Let’s wait and

Twenty-four trains, nine countries, 13, 500 miles. These are the numbers behind the long
train journey one man took from Southampton in the UK to eastern China. Roger Tyers, 37, spent
a month on trains and over $2, 500 traveling to Ningbo for research last May. It was the climate
crisis (危机), not a love of trains, that made him choose to take the train instead of the plane to
China.
Tyers is not the only person to stop air travel because of climate change. Thousands of people
worldwide have promised to stop flying, including teenage activist (青年活动家) Greta Thunberg.
Activist Maja Rosen started the “Flight Free” movement in Sweden in 2018 in the hope of
encouraging 100,000 people not to fly for one year. Although only around 14,000 people joined
the movement, Rosen, who stopped flying in 2007, said it had made more people know about the
seriousness of the climate crisis and encouraged them to travel by train more often.
According to the study made in May 2019 by Swedish Railways(SJ), 37% of people chose to
travel by train instead of by plane whenever possible, compared to 20% at the start of 2018. An SJ
spokesperson said, “Rail travel is soaring thanks to climate fears (担忧).” According to Swedavia,
a company which runs Sweden’s 10 busiest airports, last year, passenger numbers in July fell by
12% compared to the previous(先前的) year.
Now, more people care about climate change. In fact, there are lots of things we can do to
fight climate change. One of the problems is that most of us feel there’s no point in what we do as
an individual (个人). However, if we do it together, we can truly make a huge difference.
51. Tyers came to China last May to _______.
A. take a holiday B. do research C. take the train
52. What do we know about the “Flight Free” movement?
A. Greta Thunberg started it two years ago in Sweden.
B. It asked people to stop taking planes in their whole life.
16
C. It made people realize how serious the climate crisis was.

Many students love a big delicious breakfast, especially when it is made with fresh eggs. And
then most of them throw their eggshells out with the kitchen waste. However, that’s only because
they don’t know about how to use the eggshells.
Eggshells are a wonderful cleaner. Simply break them into small pieces, mix them with soap
and water, and then use them to wash the mess away.
Eggshells are also great for the garden. Spread broken eggshells onto the garden soil (泥土)
to help plants grow. They also help to keep harmful insects(害虫)away. If you plan to
grow some plants from seeds(种子), put them in the soil in an eggshell, and then put the
whole thing in a pot. The eggshell will break down to help the new plants grow.
Surprisingly, you can also eat your eggshells. They are rich in minerals that help
build strong teeth and bones. Just be sure to boil(煮)your eggshells first, because there
are some bacteria(细菌)in them. After turning them into powder(粉末), you can add it to your
favorite foods and drinks. You can even feed it to your pets to help them stay healthy.
As we can see, eggshells have almost as many uses as the eggs themselves. The next time
