(1)where常作关系副词用,引导定语从句修饰一些表示抽象地点的名词。常见的
表“抽象地点” 的名词有case,condition,situation,position,point,stage等。这类名词
充当先行词时,其后引导定语从句的关系词如果在定语从句中作地点状语,须用
where或“相应介词+which”。
(2)where引导的定语从句与状语从句
where引导定语从句和状语从句时,都在从句中作状语,且表地点。在定语从句
中,where相当于“介词+which”,其前面有表地点的先行词;在状语从句中,where不
等于“介词+which”,且从句前没有表地点的先行词。
(3)where引导的名词性从句
where也可作为连接副词,引导主语从句、宾语从句和表语从句。同时,where在
这些从句中作地点状语,意为“哪儿……”或“……的地方”。
