Module 4 A Social Survey-My Neighbourhood Writing测试 写作训练 第一节 阅读下文, 回答问题。  Let’s see what Mary’s daily life is like in the countryside.     6:45 Looking east from my bedroom window, I can see clouds change from gray-to-pink-to-orange, ending the rainstorm in beautiful style.      Temperature: 44 degrees on the porch. The air is sweetly humid. The first sound I hear is the San Pedro River. It flows so rarely these days that it’s always noticeable when it does.     7:15 Sunrise. I salute the sun by thumping out my gratitude on a drum, for the start of another beautiful day. This is a personal daily ritual. I’m reaffirming my connection with the rhythms of nature. I’m celebrating the joy of not having neighbors close enough to bother my life. On this Valentine’s Day, I’m cheering the sun a sit kisses the lips of the mountain tops goodbye before starting its workday.      8:30 Exercise time. Too rocky and steep to sustain mud, it feels springy to my feet as I start my regular morning walk. Less than 24 hours since the heavy rain stopped, hundreds of wild flowers have already sprung into bloom.      11:00 I begin my 30-mile drive to work at a small rural community college campus, where my shift is from noon to 8 pm. On the way I stop to fortify myself with coffee and a copy of the Daily Star.     My colleagues and I try to figure out how the college can best serve a slow rural economy. The old sources of both lifestyle and employment are on the wane—mining and farming. Ways of life and small town values are being lost. The school offers training in new fields —health occupations, education, small business development and the construction industry.      5:30 Sunset. I take a short break and climb the hill behind the office. Looking down at this little campus, I reflect on the future of this area. I hope that we can find a way toward economic prosperity without giving away what is unique to us —beautiful. ( Note:1. salute v.致礼 2. thump out one’s gratitude on a drum用手击鼓来表达某人的感激之情 3. (在山上)看着下面小小的校园,我在思考这个地区的将来. 我希望我们能够找到一个两全其美的办法,既能使经济繁荣又不会失去大自然给我们的特殊礼物---美. 4. I’m celebrating the joy of not having neighbors close enough to bother my life. 第二节  书面表达 Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to you to share the ideas of a survey made in our neighborhood for “Good Neighbors ”. We notice that more and more pet dogs come into our neighborhood, which makes our neighborhood noisy and dirty . Our suggestion is that we not keep them or at least keep fewer .If permitted, we should try to keep them off the grass. Another fact is that large deal of rubbish is thrown away here and there. So, great attention should be paid to the environment .Meanwhile, more recycle stations are necessary . Besides , some families don’t care much about the safety, leaving the windows open . In this case, do be careful with the  thieves. Finally  quite a few senior citizens are left alone . Some steps should be taken to take good care of them and make their lives rich and lively. Best wishes to you, Yours sincerely Wang Min
